What do you do and how long have you been doing it? I am happily retired after being a teacher and principal at El Portal Elementary and Yosemite Park High Schools for 32 years. Now I hike, ski, travel, spend time with my 4-year old granddaughter, and volunteer as a teacher of English for the Mariposa County Library Literacy Program.

How long have you been a Winter Club Member? I’ve been a YWC member since the days when the membership dinner included steak and there was lively dancing at the event. I’ve been a member since I moved to Yosemite to work for the Yosemite Institute back in the 70’s.

What is your favorite Winter Club Activity? That’s hard to choose! I love everything winter!

What brought you to Yosemite? A friend’s brother worked at Yosemite Institute and we came to visit and hike up Half Dome. Since I was in a Master’s Program for Environmental and Outdoor Education, I decided to leave my career path job at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the opportunity to live and work in the outdoors and in Yosemite. I haven’t regretted it one minute! I met my spouse at Y.I. and we could never find a better place to live and bring up our children, so we’re still here, skiing with our granddaughter at Badger and to Ostrander Ski Hut.

Board Member Since: Probably around 2011 when I retired from teaching.
